On February 8, Professor Xu Zhenlin from Food College of South China Agricultural University/Guangzhou Wanlian Biotechnology Co., LTD., invited by the Processing Institute of Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Key Laboratory of Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Genetic Resources Evaluation and Utilization of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (jointly built by the Ministry), delivered a special report on "Experience Sharing and Points for Attention in National Fund Application".

Based on his own experience in applying for the National Natural Science Foundation, Professor Xu Zhenlin shared his experience in applying for the National Natural Science Foundation from the aspects of the selection of scientific research problems, the condensing of scientific problems, the points for attention in each link and so on, and explained how to dig deeply into the research and innovation points in a simple way. He encouraged young researchers to closely relate their research topics to their superior disciplines and work in a down-to-earth manner. After the report, Professor Xu Zhenlin also carefully answered the questions raised by the on-site scientific researchers. This special exchange activity not only broadened the ideas of young researchers in writing the National Natural Science Foundation, but also laid a good foundation for writing the application materials of the National Natural Science Foundation in 2023. In addition, after the meeting, Deputy Researcher Deng Hao, director of Hainan Key Laboratory of Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Cold Chain Research, also led a visit to the laboratory of processing Institute and Plant Protection Institute of the Institute, and initially reached a cooperative intention to jointly develop graduate student training.

This exchange activity was jointly organized by the Key Laboratory of Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Genetic Resources Evaluation and Utilization of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (jointly built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Hainan Key Laboratory of Tropical Fruit and Vegetable Cold Chain Research, Hainan Key Laboratory of Tropical Fruit Biology, and Hainan Key Laboratory of Vegetable Biology. It was also the first lesson of "Scientific Research Practice Lecture" promoted by the Processing Institute. More than 50 people participated in the special exchange activity through online and offline forms.
